This is a credit card that is an excellent choice for people who travel extensively and who enjoy the Starwood hotels and resorts. Rewards are generous and bonuses make it easy to accumulate a good amount of points quickly. Every dollar you spend for purchases other than at Starwood you will earn one Starpoint. Purchases at Starwood earn a lot more than that at three points per dollar spent. Bonus starpoints are also awarded as you spend more at the properties and are based on the accumulated spending you do. Starpoints are easy to use because there are over 750 properties that accept them including Sheraton, Westin and W Hotels. Card holders receive a yearly certificate for 50% off a stay of up to five nights at any of the hotels or resorts as well and this is a nice bonus. Another feature is that these points are not restricted so you can use them any time of the year rather than just off-season. This card is ideal for people who already travel and stay at hotels. It is also best for those who already have a good credit history. The Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card has a low introductory offer of 2.90% APR. This is a limited offer however and only lasts for the first six months you have the card. After that your APR is 14.99% which is about average for many cards. It is not an ideal interest rate if you carry large balances on your card. If you do, you may want to consider something with a low introductory rate that lasts longer or one that may not provide rewards but does maintain a lower rate all year. This particular card is really meant for people with good credit who spend money on travel and accommodations already. They can earn lots of rewards on regular purchases plus some major bonuses on purchases at Starwood which really makes it worth it. You can apply for a balance transfer on this card at the time you apply for the card. This has a nice low introductory rate of 2.90% as well for the first six month. If you are planning to transfer a balance that you won't have paid off within that first six months, you may want to rethink as this rate jumps to 15.24% after the six months are up. Overall, this is an excellent card for those who don't carry balances and who spend a lot of money on hotels. |
