This credit card is meant for people who use their credit card mostly in the New York City area. This card earns points on eligible purchases made at listed restaurants, movie theatres, cell phone service providers, cable and satellite television providers, internet providers, gyms, and for certain newspaper and magazine subscriptions. Points are also earned on many other purchases. If you are out and about in New York City, you may well want to be earning rewards while you are at it. Using rewards that are aimed at your local area has its own appeal. One of the most attractive things about this card for NYCers is the zero percent introductory rates it comes with. For the first six months, you will pay no interest on any balances you carry. Not only that but any balance transfers you make during the first ninety days will also be eligible for the zero percentage rates for the first six months. This is a great way to move some other credit card debt around and save the interest charges while you pay it down. Especially if you plan on having the balance paid off completely within the six months, you could save a lot of interest. After the initial six months is over, the annual percentage rate goes up but remains quite attractive. For purchases the rate will be set at between 9.24% and 16.24% based on your credit rating and credit history as well as the credit limit of the card. Cash advances on this card are charged a rate of 22.24% and so like most credit cards, using it for cash is rather pricey, especially if you don't pay off your balance each month. You will also pay a cash advance fee of 3% of the transaction amount (minimum of $5 and no maximum amount). This card does not have an annual fee which makes it attractive. Some other fees you will find on the NYC card are late fees. $19 is charged on late payments on balances under $400 and a late payment fee of $38 is charged for balances of $400 or more. American Express also charges a $35 fee if you go over your credit limit with this card. Overall this card is a nice inexpensive card to use for the most part with the added bonus of rewards for spending money in your town which you were already doing anyways.
